Veneto and Treviso as regions are full with interesting discoveries, beautiful little towns which can be visited and adventurous activities.
 
In case you would like to spend a few days before / after the wedding to explore the Treviso area, we have compiled a few of our personal highlights below. Please feel free to reach out to us for any further information or recommendations.

Valdobbiadene

No visit in Treviso without a glass of Prosecco in the region it is actually from - the Valdobbiadene area. Besides the stunning landscape, there are various wineries where you can enjoy a few "bubbles" in an easygoing atmosphere and with some local delicacies.

Travel time: 30 minutes

  • 10'000 inhabitants

  • Community in the region Venetia within the province of Treviso

  • Well-known for the grape Glera, which is processed into delicious sparkling wine under the label "Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene D.O.C.(G.)" which is exclusive to the area

  • "Musts" for a visit in Valdobbiadene:

    • A glass of Prosecco with some cheese and meat in the "Osteria senz'Oste" ("restaurant without host")

    • A visit to the wineries of Nani Rizzi, Tanore, Col Vetoraz or our favorite Rive del Bacio

    • Driving along the "Strada del Prosecco" from the village Santo Stefano all the way to the town Valdobbiadene

    • Visit to Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta

Burano

The ultimate insider tip near Venice is Burano! This unique little fishing village charms its visitors with a very special color palette and is always an excellent choice for a relaxing stroll.

Travel time: 1 hour

  • Colorful island in the lagoon in front of venice, which attracts visitors with the colored fisher houses and sweet little restaurants

  • The town is well known for its lace and linen products

  • Definitely try the local specialty "bussolai buranei" (butter biscuits)

  • Like the example of Pisa, Burano also has a skewed tower, which can be visited

Bassano del Grappa

Bassano del Grappa is a neat little village with only very little inhabitants, but even more historical sites. World-known is especially the Poli Distillery - definitely worth a visit when in Bassano!

Travel time: 1 hour

  • 45'000 inhabitants

  • Wooden bridge Ponte Degli Alpini from the 13. century, spanning across the river Brenta

  • Various historic churches like the San Francesco and the San Giovanni Battista

  • The villa Angarano was nominated an outstanding piece of cultural heritage by the UNESCO

  • For Grappa lovers a must: a visit in the Poli Distillery

Venice

THE absolute classic in the surroundings of Susegana is of course Venice - the unique city of love and of artists.

Travel time: 1 hour

  • 45'000 inhabitants

  • Venice does not need an introduction, Everybody knows the capital city of the Veneto, which was built on more than a hundred small islands

  • Hint: for the discovery of Venice, visitors can buy tourist tickets, which grant discounts on public transportation and make queuing in front of museums etc. redundant

  • If you have never been to Venice until now, this is a clear must during your stay :-)

Caorle

The ones of you that are longing for salty air and already know venice can spend a relaxing day on the beach of Caorle to fill up on some highly needed sun after the long winter

 

Travel time: 1 hour

  • 10'000 inhabitants

  • Suitated right beside the sea

  • Thanks to the numerous small winding alleys, the beautiful bell towers and the typical in venetian colors painted houses, Caorle is often referred to as "The Little Venice"

  • Although the beach cannot be compared with the country's most beautiful ones, it is still very well suited for a relaxing sunny beach day

Asolo

The little charming village of Asolo is situated in the Veneto hills and impresses with a short travel time and a wonderful castle towering the city, surrounded by beautiful old buildings - but of course the castle is not nearly as beautiful as the Castello San Salvatore :-)

Travel time: 45 minutes

  • Small town with approx. 10'000 inhabitants

  • Member of "I borghi più belli d'Italia" (the most beautiful places in Italy)

  • Well known for its wine and the production of its own "Asolo Prosecco"

  • A must see is - among the castle - also the church santa maria assunta

Padova

The main city Padova is one of the oldest cities in Italy and enchants visitors with its combination of countless venerable sightseeing spots and many shopping opportunities, that are found especially in the city center

Travel time: 70 minutes

  • More than 200'000 inhabitants

  • Believing the sagas, Padova was founded 1184 before Christ

  • most well known sightseeing spots are the elective church and the basilica of the holy Antonius with his tomb

  • The city center is overflowing with splendid examples of middle age, renaissance and modern times' architecture and radiates a unique vibe, which connects urban rhythm of life with millennial traditions and invites visitors to spend a few hours

Treviso

The city that lies 15 meters above sea level is within short reach of Susegana and invites visitors to a long stroll through streets full of buildings from times long past, crossing romantic canals.

travel time: 30 minutes

  • approx. 85'000 inhabitants

  • City center with wonderful palaces and numerous canals

  • A must see is the old town as well as the well preserved former city fortress and its walls

  • the most iconic building of the city is the cathedral from the 12th century, which was completely renewed in the 15/16th century
